Odditorium or Warlords from Mars is the first album from the Dandy Warhols since their popularity rose a notch or two after release of the documentary Dig!, which chronicled their rock n’ roll travails alongside those of the Brian Jonestown Massacre. It’s a bit of a mishmash, with a somewhat flat production and songs that range from tightly crafted pop tunes to the pretentious that meander along far longer than they should.

Amid all the bombast, however, are a number of tunes energized by some of the groovy hooks of which the Dandy Warhols are noted. “Holding Me Up” and, especially “Down Like Disco” are two songs that compare with the best material from previous albums. While not as consistent as earlier efforts, Odditorium or Warlords from Mars is not without its moments.

Favorite Track: Track 10, “Down Like Disco ”
