Goodman’s voice combines soft sexiness with
a little attitude. It’s a voice that works well with
a range of styles, and on Hard To Get To she showcases this
talent with help from her rather adept band of session pros.
The five tracks on the EP include up-tempo Bonnie Raitt-style
rockers like the title track, as well as slower, jazzier
numbers.
Throughout,
though, there’s a bluesy element as well.
The songs take on the familiar relationship themes: breakups,
miscommunication, and redemption, but the songs are laced
with indelible hooks and Goodman sings with such passion
that each makes for a worthwhile listen. She’s ably
following in the footsteps of rockers like Raitt, Melissa
Etheridge and Sheryl Crow, and Hard To Get To represents
her first foray along that path.
