To
the impatient listener, Mocean 8 might sound like a wannabe
jam band, but these guys have some skills—not only
with regards to their musicianship, but also their songwriting.
This acoustic ensemble builds a multi-layered sound that
echoes those like Dave Matthews, and quickly puts a smile
on one’s face.
The
production leaves much to be desired, but, in some ways,
that only accentuates the “homegrown” qualities
that further the album’s appeal. From the sound of
it, Mocean 8 has fun when it plays, and that gets contagious…
