On Footnotes to Fairytales singer/songwriter Peter James delivers a soothing acoustical soundscape that’s further enhanced by the album’s fine production.  At times the instrumental interplay on Footnotes to Fairytales is reminiscent of the stellar work of the late Michael Hedges.

James’ album is a lush affair of fine musicianship (including strings) and evocative lyrics served by a sincere voice.  I first listened to the album in rush-hour traffic and it kept me from acting on any impulses of road rage.  Still, a better suggestion might be listening to it from a beachfront deck at sunset with a glass of wine in hand and romance in the air.
