The cover reminds me of a mix between Yellow
Submarine and Schoolhouse Rock (“Conjunction Junction, what’s
your function?”) with the word Promethean steaming out of
a train engine in a creepy way. Once you pop the CD in, the
first thing you hear is the monk of Promethean! The intro
is a nice way to catch the attention of the listener, bringing
in the didjeridoo and chant sounds, however nothing like
the rest of the album. After it kicks in, a bit of classic
rock nostalgia comes up from behind. Songwriting is strong
throughout the entire album, showing experience and expressing
the energy I believe they wanted to portray. It’s a very
well felt album.
You can tell the production quality compliments the band
quite well. This is a very well thought out project, in all
aspects. You can hear subtle as well as massive shifts in
genres, and all very well done. Plus, don’t be surprised
if certain songs remind you of some old band favorites. Promethean
Monk is definitely a band working to keep rock alive, touching
on styles, sounds, and harmonies of the rock ‘n roll your
folks used to listen to, as well as showing you some new
stuff.
