Hailing
from Tel Aviv, Israel, quixand is a six-member alt-rock
ensemble. Their four-song debut EP showcases their ability
to seamlessly weave through a variety of numbers—from
danceable, reggae-tinged tunes to progressive rock melodies
to heavy ballads. The lyrics (and all liner copy) are in
English, and the band’s sound evokes 90’s Seattle
more than anything else.
Highly
Flammable is under fifteen minutes from start to finish,
but the tracks sufficiently reveal the band’s
capable musicianship and songwriting prowess. If quixand
is any indication, the Middle East has up and coming bands
to match its Western counterparts.
