Don’t let the album cover fool you. Hailing from our
nation’s capitol, Summer Rain’s Tye Dye is much
more about alternative modern rock than hippie retread jams.
The songs from this four-piece outfit are mostly up-tempo
and rather catchy, and you’ll be surprised how often
your feet tap in time to the music.
The
production is rough, but its rawness almost suits the tracks.
This is good music for a road trip, and one of the songs,
A Long Drive, beckons the listener to do just that. These
guys rock hard, but even noisier tunes retain enough space
to keep the music at an even keel. And Justin Grim’s
vocal stylings fit nicely with these tunes, particularly
on ballads.
