Announces Best Band Name Contest
Roland VS-840EX Digital Recording Workstation the Reward for Finest
Appellation
PALO
ALTO, Calif., March 22, 2000 Whats in a name? For one
intriguingly named band of musicians it will be a Roland VS-840EX.
OnlineRock,
a Web community giving musicians, music professionals and fans free
tools and services to promote their music, today announced its "Best
Band Name" contest. The contest challenges the many bands that
think theyve coined themselves something extraordinary to submit
their name for a chance to win Rolands acclaimed 8-track digital
recording workstation, courtesy of Musicians
Friend.
The Best
Band Name contest is the latest in an ongoing series of contests at
OnlineRock. Bands can enter the contest by simply going to the OnlineRock
homepage and clicking on the contest link. To verify names, those
who enter must include the URL of their bands Web site. If they
dont already have a site, they can quickly and easily build
one at OnlineRock in a matter of minutes.
"From
the days of Captain Beefhearts Magic Band to Alice in Chains
and The Smashing Pumpkins, rock bands have been known for their creative
and eccentric names," said Roland Goity, vice president of marketing
and co-founder of OnlineRock. "In addition to our free tools
and services, and musician-related articles and content; the OnlineRock
contests create an interactive dialogue with our members and the many
other bands using the Web to promote their music."
The last
day for entries for the OnlineRock Best Band Name contest is Tuesday,
April 11. The winning entry will be notified by April 15, and will
be posted on the OnlineRock homepage.
