Earlier this year, Chilean singer and guitarist Cat Tasso (formerly of the May Fire) recorded her fist solo ep
GOWER in Los Angeles, CA, at the all-analog studio of Manny Nieto (The Breeders, Darker My Love).
Not long after she broke away from her band The May Fire, TASSO was born.
In the coming months TASSO landed a spot in the photography book entitled Tour Bands Photography Book by Don Shelford and John Knecht. They were featured with bands such as The Von Bondies, Hot Hot Heat, Broken Social Scene, and The Walkmen amongst other Los Angeles bands touring the country.
In an article on Imnotteo.com TASSO was described as, "A sound that's primed and ready to redefine this generation".
The band that started as a two-piece (now with a new addition on bass) already has a single. "Don"t love me (I never will)" was released on the Diablito Records compilation of the best bands of Mexico, Puerto Rico, South America and Los Angeles. It has now been released in Mexico City and distributed by Warner Music along with TASSO's first music video by Russian director Paul Ratner.
TASSO's raw energy is reminiscent of the show spirit and attitude of yesterday. Loud, moody, and intense moments of tender simplicity are what give TASSO a huge signature sound.
